If you’re considering moving abroad, then you should probably prep yourself for the emotional roller coaster that comes with becoming an expat. You need to know what you’re in for before you make that final decision to book a one way ticket. If you’re about to read this blog, then you’ve probably already made that final decision to book a ticket and just doing your research.

While in Lucerne, there are no shortage of amazing day trips that one can do in the great outdoors. After spending a full day hitting up all the sights to see in Lucerne, you’ll want to get out into wide open spaces and take in the surrounding views and that fresh Alpine air! While researching, I found so many options, it was hard to chose. For example, you could go up Mount Pilatus, ride the world’s first rotating cable car on the Titlis up Engelberg or you could do what we did!

Nestled right in the heart of Switzerland, along the western shore of Lake Lucerne, is the jaw-dropping town of Lucerne. So pristine, so glorious, so magnificent, it is one of Europe’s most stunning destinations. Skipping this town would be a crime against the Laws of Traveling because Lucerne is downright STUPID PRETTY!! (Are there such laws? If not, there should be!)

Since moving to Germany 4 6 years ago, I continuously seem to have one main conversation whenever I meet someone new. It goes something like this:

Friend/Student/Stranger: “Where are you from?”

Me: “I’m from California”

Friend/Student/Stranger: “WHY did you move to Germany?”

I’m just gonna say this right now, and if you’re a regular reader, you already know what I’m about to say! … I’ve done it again! I’ve found more adorable, picturesque, quaint and charming half-timbered towns. And no, not just one, but 3!!! And if you’re a regular reader or at least follow me on Instagram, then you already know I am OBSESSED with these stupid pretty little towns that are straight out of a fairy tale book!

Summer is just a few months away, and you are likely starting to think about where you would like to spend your summer holiday. Germany certainly has no shortage of castles perched upon hills overlooking many scenic rivers and valleys. Castle spotting is definitely a favorite past time while driving through the country on a road trip. Some castles are as romantic as any homeless romantic could possibly imagine and even inspired Walt Disney, some are unique and no less impressive while others lie in ruins but still hold a special charm.
