If you’re looking for some of the best places to visit in Austria, look no further! Perched high on a hill overlooking the Wachau Valley, the winding Danube River and the small town of Melk is Austria’s prettiest and most impressive abbey, Melk Abbey. Impossible to miss when approaching either by boat or by car, it’s sunshine yellow facade is a welcoming sight and has been home to Benedictine monks for over 900 years!
As one of the finest cities in northern Europe along the Baltic coast, Gdańsk is a charming city loaded with beautiful architecture and waterfront views along its ports. Having had the misfortune of being the location of the first shots fired during the Second World War, it would later lay in almost complete ruin by the end of the war. Almost eight decades later, the city has been gloriously rebuilt and has so much to offer, along with the neighboring towns of Gdynia and Sopot.
Located in the Greater Poland region of Wielkopolska, Poznań, the regional capital is one of the largest cities in Poland, yet simultaneously relatively unheard of and under the radar in comparison to Krakow, Warsaw or Gdańsk. Poznań (Posen) boasts all the same fascinating history, vibrant architecture and delicious food as found in the more popular destinations, yet is practically tourist-free.
Along my travels, and having been lucky enough to live in two of these cities, I’ve come to learn which cities were almost entirely spared from the ravages of war or were only minimally destroyed. So I’ve gathered a list of cities and towns throughout Germany which were untouched and still offer that historic Medieval charm we all crave to see and feel. And while there are many destinations in Germany to visit which also survived, I have yet to visit all of them.

Before I uprooted my entire life to move to Europe, I wanted to come as often as possible and there were some of the questions I asked myself whenever I did attempt to come over. But I didn’t have the money or the travel skills that I have now. After living in Europe for 4 years already (how did that happen) and counting, I’ve learned a lot and I certainly made my fair share of mistakes along the way and I’m here now to share with you what I know now that I wish I had known then!

As we all know, I am a huge movie buff and love anything that has to do with traveling around Europe at any point in history. I love all types of films as long as they aren’t horror films! Romantic, Comedies, Historic, you name it, I will watch it! Before I go on vacation somewhere, I usually try to find a movie or read a book that takes place where I am going!
Here is my list of movies you should definitely check out before coming on a trip to Europe which includes both chick-flicks and action-flicks for those nights you and your special someone are looking for something to watch!
The Czech Republic isn’t ONLY just about Prague and there is so many more fascinating things to do in the Czech Republic! Just beyond Passau, over the Czech Republic border and about 45 minutes to an hour, through back roads, small villages and country side, you can find one of the most perfectly preserved Medieval towns still left in Europe and is without a doubt, STUPID PRETTY!
